Progress is slow going for my latest painting, "Remedy", in the Unravel series.  There's always that pressure to "get it right" floating in the back of my mind that my perfectionistic nature feeds on, but I think it is also harder because this series is deeply personal so they mean much more. Regardless, I have to keep reminding myself that these things cannot be forced, otherwise the end result will not be what I envisioned. (lesson learned the hard way there in previous projects).

Happy Tuesday! I thought I would share a peek at my “Three of Swords” concept. It’s still rough but I like how it’s coming along so far. I’ve always loved the mysticism behind tarot cards and the intricate detail to each individual illustration. This particular cards’ meanings resonated with me and I felt an urge to create my own representation. Upright, the three of swords represents painful separation, sorrow, heartbreak, grief, rejection. Reversed, the three of swords represents releasing pain, optimism, forgiveness.

I failed. It's the immediate response to something that doesn't quite come out the way I'd hoped or planned for. It's a statement that my perfectionist alter ego cringes at. There may have been creative expletives absorbed into the silence of my studio... Wouldn't it be curious if the words you said out loud when alone collected on the walls of the room you were in for others to witness? That would be an eye opening experience... Anyway, It's no secret that people are hardest on themselves.  We judge and criticize every little thing and are quick to toss aside something that could be wonderful, labeling it ruined instead. Ahhh sweet, s
